This is a good place to put pictures, thumbnails, drawings, clip art, etc...

A German family which came to settle here 28 years ago has put together the African Nature Tours Cross Country Tour Program through many years of personal expeditions and experiences. Each tour is prepared individually and if possible accompanied personally.

Ghana along the Gulf of Guinea is a peaceful country where hospitality is a way of life. A country whose people have a kind word or gesture for everybody no matter the race or color or religion. There are no Political nor Religious differences and life has a pace of its own. Ghana has been Democratically Independent since 20 years. In short it is an Oasis of Peace in a Continent otherwise known to be very unstable.

Our Cross Country Tour Program is designed for people who are interested in experiencing the past and present of a rich and colorful country which has not yet been touched by Tourism. Here you find real African Culture and Tradition in places where one feels time came to a standstill hundred years ago. You travel on Bush roads to get to the Mole National Park which with its 4840 sq.km is the largest National Park in West Africa and with its 92 different species stands to compete with any other National Park in South Africa or Kenya. Here you find animals which are still in their natural habitat and life in peace with the villages around. Among them Elephants, Lions, Leopards, Warthogs, Cobs, Monkeys etc. Nature at its best.

The roads we will travel are the same routes the Slaves had to walk down from the Slave Markets in Salaga in North of Ghana and Assin Manso in the Central Region to reach the Castles of Elmina and Cape Coast down by the coast before being sent off into an unknown future.

When we reach Makongo during our tour we have reached the banks of the largest man made lake in the world - the Volta Lake which we will travel down to Akosmbo aboard the Yapei Queen for 2 days. The Volta Lake has a size of 8600 sq.km and is fed by the Volta River which is one of the largest rivers in Africa. The lake in turn feeds the Hydro electric Dam of Akosombo that provide electricity for Ghana and its neighbors. But more important it is the livelihood of many villages which have settled along its banks and the easiest route to bring down food from the North to the Coast of Ghana.

These are just a few appetizers of better things waiting for you. One important thing is that the tour is not a 5 Star hotel tour. And home cooked pasta or mothers stew will not be able to come by for the 12 or more days you will be on tour. Air-conditioning and uninterrupted water supply is not always available and improvisation is mostly the order of the day. We will spend our nights in hand picked Hotels or Guest Houses but it may happen that we have to spend the night on a mattress on the floor. In other words do not look forward to the luxury of a posh hotel but rather look forward to a once in the life time adventure.

The roads we travel on are not European or American highways and sometimes it is only a dusty bush road which does not allow speedy driving. Our tour is designed to show you the real Ghana and not a polished tourist version.

If you are ready for an adventure without luxury and perfection we would like to invite you to our Cross Country Tour
